Last year, my sister and I spoke about creating something that was simple, but could also be fun to make. I had this idea for a Halloween-themed film. I shared some thoughts and she was open to seeing how it developed. Months later, I had almost a full idea in mind. She suggested I write it. It was about an influencer named Cherry who was invited on a date with this mystery man whom she would tell her fans (a.k.a. Cherryseeds) all about. Cherry was expected to return to the live stream post-date night and when she did, things weren’t exactly 100% the same.
Momma Say Sisters Say Productions released “It’s Ya Girl, Cherry” this past March and we were back and forth about making a sequel. Our third production partner really wanted a follow-up. She shared some ideas, which I thought were pretty fun and we ended up collaborating on part two, “Cherry, Where You Been?”
I haven’t done many full-on script collaborations, but I was excited to see what would come of the different ideas we both had. We put them together and that sequel is finally here.
